The Lawrence Hall of Science TEAMS program is for students ages 12–18 who are interested in pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. The TEAMS program provides you with the opportunity to learn more about science careers, support in preparing for college, and firsthand work experience.
Our TEAMS program selects new students every fall. To be eligible to apply for our TEAMS program, you must first volunteer at the Hall as a teenaged volunteer. Our teen volunteer program starts with an orientation on May 19 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. If you have any questions regarding TEAMS please feel free to email the TEAMS office or call us at 510-642-1698.
TEAMS Explorers—for students ages 12–14
Meet other young teens interested in science, learn more about science careers, and get some firsthand experience working with Lawrence Hall of Science visitors! TEAMS Explorers meet the first Saturday of every month from 1:00–3:30 p.m.
TEAMS Interns—for students ages 15–18
Meet scientists, get support in preparing for college, and get valuable work experience as an intern at the Lawrence Hall of Science. TEAMS interns participate in monthly career and college prep meetings, and choose a new project to participate in each semester.
- Learn animal husbandry in our Animal Discovery Room
- Work with astrophysicists from UC Berkeley's Space Sciences Lab
- Help visitors invent solutions to engineering challenges in the Ingenuity Lab, or teach science to others at community fairs and other events.
TEAMS interns meet the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.–noon, and are required to work at least one three-hour shift each month. Interns receive a stipend for their work.
Call the TEAMS office (510) 642-1698 or e-mail TEAMS with any questions.
