Cyclotron Ernest Orlando Lawrence > Cyclotron This early cyclotron, built by Ernest Orlando Lawrence and M. Stanley Livingston, was the first to demonstrate the acceleration of protons on January 2, 1931. It is on display at the Lawrence Hall of Science, established in honor of Dr. Lawrence, the University of California's first Nobel Laureate.
