The Lawrence is part of the University of California, Berkeley. As such, it benefits from the university’s cutting-edge work and research. Our Teen Research Programs are developed in collaboration with campus departments and enable access to people, labs, and experiences that are unique to UC Berkeley. Each program is taught by a subject matter expert, and offers a chance to see and experience what scientists and STEM professionals actually do. All campus-based programs will include campus tours and time spent in related labs, as well as meeting with current students and faculty. Teens will benefit from the science content, as well as from connecting with others, and also experiencing life on campus. Meeting graduate students and faculty who are doing current research at the university level, and hearing their personal narratives, provides an inspiring, empowering experience and highlights a range of pathways into STEM for this next generation.
The cost of summer programs can sometimes be the biggest hurdle to families. This summer there are some changes in the registration process that you should note. First, once you choose a program, you will see two prices posted—one is the full price of the program, and the second is a subsidized price. We ask that if you are able to pay the full cost of the program, please register at that rate. Second, if you cannot afford the actual cost of the program, please use the subsidized rate. Finally, if you need further financial assistance, please follow this link and fill out a financial aid application before registering for any program.
The Lawrence Hall of Science is committed to broadening participation of underrepresented populations in STEM careers, STEM-related civic engagement, and the pursuit of STEM-related personal passions.
