Combine reading, art, and science with Science at Cal and The Lawrence On-The-Go in Downtown Berkeley at the Bay Area Book Festival’s Free Outdoor Fair. Visit our booth where you’ll get to meet UC Berkeley scientists from the Departments of Chemistry, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and Integrative Biology. And make your own bookmark as you learn about iridescence!
The Bay Area Book Festival is a world-class literary extravaganza taking place each year over two days in Downtown Berkeley. The Outdoor Fair, a wonderland of literary vendors, kids’ activities, and family fun, is totally free, and all of their other programming—250-300 authors on 15 stages—is accessible with one $15 pass.
Learn about color, light and reflection while creating your own iridescent bookmark. Create a colorful bookmark using a super thin layer of nail polish on water. Explore how rainbow colors are created and find out how thin films can reflect light in special ways!
