With 2024 almost upon us, there’s no better time to reflect on all the amazing science we did together this year. From exciting grant projects to new exhibits, The Lawrence spent 2023 discovering all-new ways to explore, invent, and engage with learners both near and far. Take a look at the top stories of the year, watch out 2023 Look Back video, and get ready to make 2024 another thrilling year of science fun!
Our brand of hands-on science learning extends far beyond the walls of the science center. This year, for the eighth time, The Lawrence was invited to bring engaging science fun to the annual White House Easter Egg Roll! Reminisce with us as we prepare to return to D.C. this spring.
The Lawrence received a lot of ground-breaking grants this year, funding projects ranging from a new augmented reality exhibit to Spanish-language science events at the Oakland Public Library. Enjoy this look back at a new way of learning about ethics and artificial intelligence technology.
Our beloved Animal Discovery Zone was closed for renovations for a large part of this year. In June, we shared a behind-the-scenes look at how our animals were being cared for by our expert staff as we completed work on their new home.
The Outdoor Nature Lab, our outdoor exhibit for observing and connecting with nature, turned one this summer! Look back on the journey we shared together in nurturing this new habitat and developing engaging outdoor activities that spark curiosity.
We had a blast exploring solar science and celebrating the annular solar eclipse with you on October 14. Check out our story about the science behind the “Ring of Fire,” and get ready for another eclipse on April 8 next year!
