The Lawrence Hall of Science has a fantastic array of exhibits that activate your curiosity about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). But what about when you’re not here? The Hall offers a variety of ways to get your STEM fix at home, like apps and activities, as well as books. The Discovery Corner Store offers an incredible number of books, science kits, and toys, and takes online orders 24/7!
Our store’s selection of books—and more—is a carefully curated collection of fun and educational materials to engage kids and adults alike. We take great pains to make sure that everything we sell fits with our mission and subject matter, and appeals to our patrons.
Year round, our Discovery Corner staff keeps an ever-growing list of potential books to add to our shelves. We follow influential publications, like Scientific American, as well as trends in current research and STEM education. We’re looking for products with a great deal of appeal, from books by well-known authors, to ones that cover popular subject matter. The result is a library that reflects what our audience is most interested in reading.
For kids, we like to provide books that teach important topics, while also being fun. Books that focus on computer coding are a big growth area right now. Coding with Minecraft is a perfect example of teaching important skills while also emphasizing fun and creativity. Our selection of comics and graphic novels has also grown a great deal recently.
