Improving Practice Together (IPT)

Matthew Wilsey is a Ph.D. candidate in Curriculum and Teacher Education with a focus on Science Education at the Stanford GSE. His research in investigates how teachers learn across time and place, how teachers negotiate the multiple – and potentially competing – messages, and how pre- and in-service learning environments might be designed to better reflect the distributed nature of teacher learning. During his graduate studies, Matt has supported pre- and in-service teachers through his involvement in the IPT project, the Hollyhock Fellowship, and in the Stanford Teacher Education Program (STEP). Prior to Stanford, Matt worked as the associate director of the University of Notre Dame’s Center for STEM Education, where he taught in the Alliance for Catholic Education’s M.Ed. program and helped lead professional development with the Notre Dame STEM Teaching Fellows program. He completed his M.Ed. with the ACE Teaching Fellows Program after teaching middle school mathematics and science in Brownsville, Texas, before moving to Chicago, IL, and teaching high school physics and chemistry.
