Foundations of Nature & Science Journaling BEETLES Non-member price: $200 Sessions: 1 session Workshop Schedule #1 Wednesday, February 18, 2026 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM PST Enrollment Required Please log in to check your access or purchase this workshop. Nature and science journaling is a powerful practice that supports observation, thinking, and learning. We will consider how journaling facilitates direct engagement, provides a venue for learner reflection, and can get learners excited about the process of observation and learning. Integrating journaling into science programs can also reinforce equitable and inclusive learner-centered teaching practices. In this session, participants will engage in two model journaling activities, discuss how journaling can benefit learners, reflect on how scientists and thinkers in other disciplines use journaling as a tool to support their practice, and learn some basic strategies for supporting learners’ participation in journaling activities. This session is adapted from the BEETLES session, Field Journaling with Students. Participation in this session is strongly encouraged (though not required) as a prerequisite for the future session, Integrating Nature & Science Journaling in Programs.
