NGSS Connections Outside of The Classroom

K-12 classroom teachers address the Next Generation Science Standards by engaging students in the three dimensions – Disciplinary Core Ideas, Crosscutting Concepts, and Science and Engineering Practices – to explain real world phenomena. Making explicit connections to how students are learning in the classroom will not only support their deeper learning of science ideas but will better equip them to see the world around them through the eyes of a scientist.

In this session, participants will build a shared understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards and what three dimensional teaching and learning can look like.We will develop a common language around engagement in science through NGSS and identify how to engage students in the NGSS outside of the classroom.
