Activity

Ladybug Spots

In this art/science/math activity, young learners are introduced to the concept of symmetry in nature. Learners paint spots on one wing of a ladybug line drawing provided in the PDF, then fold their still-wet pictures in half to create matching spots on the ladybug’s opposite wing. This activity can be combined with lessons on ladybugs and other insects, patterns in nature, or early math.

Materials List:

  • Small paintbrush or cotton swab

  • Several printed copies of the activity sheets

  • Paint (any color)
