Join The Lawrence for one of our signature Five Dollar Days as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the National Science Foundation (NSF)! NSF STEM Day is a celebration of the incredible impact the NSF has had on science education, including through projects developed right here at UC Berkeley and The Lawrence. Explore programs and experiences funded by the NSF, including fan-favorite exhibitions, in-depth research projects, and more! A shuttle to The Lawrence will be available from the Downtown Berkeley BART station.
East Bay Academy for Young ScientistsExplore a pop-up exhibit about our East Bay Academy for Young Scientists (EBAYS)! EBAYS programs engage youth in community and citizen science projects researching the levels and effects of several pollutants in their cities. Discover the positive influence participation in EBAYS has on students’ perceptions of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), as well as interest in and awareness of STEM careers.
Virtually HumanLawrence Hall of Science researchers are exploring how young learners can make sense of and interact with artificial intelligence. Engage with the various AI experiences in our Virtually Human exhibit as you learn how AI can solve problems. Then participate in a prototyping activity of new experiences in development for the exhibit.
Supporting Rightful Presence in Museum SpacesLearn about a three-year collaboration with the 'ottoy Initiative. The Tappenekšekma: Ohlone Science Diplomats Program engages youth and families in workshops to develop mixed reality experiences celebrating Ohlone culture and scientific knowledge. “Tappenekšekma,” a Chochenyo word, means both “teacher” and “learner.”

NSF Center for Genetically Encoded Materials (C-GEM)Come make a model of cutting-edge new materials using pasta shapes! C-GEM scientists are reprogramming nature’s machinery to create entirely new types of materials and medicines, inspired by how proteins are built in our bodies. Their work combines biology, chemistry, and computation to explore the future of science at the molecular level.
10k Science and the Innovative Genomics Institute Come immerse yourself in a virtual reality experience using the 10k Science VR platform that showcases how CRISPR gene editing technology is being used to cure sickle cell disease. Plus, come talk with Innovative Genomics Institute scientists who are part of the team who pioneered this work.
