Meet & greet Cal scientists, participate in hands-on science activities, and enjoy over a mile of FREE family fun at the 46th annual Solano Avenue Stroll with Science at Cal and The Lawrence On-The-Go team! Create your own engineering project, learn more about current research at Berkeley, ask questions to real scientists, and inspire the next generation of Cal Bears in your family.
Create your own Bunny Copter with a fun, quick, hands-on STEM activity, and make a souvenir to take home with you after the fair. In a short period of time, you’ll get to make a flying copter, observe it in action, and think about the “what if” questions—What if we reverse the blades? What if we add more blades? How will this affect its flight? By asking questions and encouraging experimentation, you can keep the learning going at home.

12:15–2:45 p.m.: Nina Sokolov, Bee Scientist, Dept. of Integrative Biology“Bee Colorful,” You might be familiar with the honeybee, but did you know there are over 20,000 different species of bees in the world? Join Nina Sokolov from the Dept. of Integrative Biology for an afternoon of bee trivia and win hand-drawn native bee coloring pages!
2:30–5:30 p.m.: Girls in Engineering & Kaimin Jia, Dept. of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
The Solano Avenue Stroll is the East Bay’s largest street festival and features over four hundred vendors including 50 entertainers, 25 food booths, 100 government and non-profit agencies, 100 artisans, jewelers, makers, and much more!
