This free educator workshop provides K–12 teachers the opportunity to learn about the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA) Ocean Literacy Framework. Join us to gain a deeper understanding of teaching and learning about the ocean using high-leverage, evidence-based practices. The workshop will help educators develop the expertise to use ocean literacy tools while also aligning with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and other principles and standards, including Transformative Education. Plus, experience activities focused on ocean-atmosphere interactions and your local environment. Register by November 5 to secure your spot! Participants will get:

National Marine Educators Association (NMEA) is a dedicated, influential member-based organization of classroom teachers, informal educators, university professors, scientists, and more from around the world working together to advance the understanding and protection of our freshwater and marine ecosystems. From scientists working in the deep sea to students studying underwater archeology in the Great Lakes, NMEA members are dedicated to making known the world of water, both fresh and salt.
The Southwest Marine/ Aquatic Educators’ Association (SWMEA) is a chapter of the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA), and consists of individuals and organizations found in California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado. Their mission is “to provide a forum for formal and informal educators to develop and exchange strategies that encourage learning and stewardship of marine and aquatic ecosystems.
