David became an educator after many years as a research scientist and has a life-long interest in making science meaningful, valuable, and accessible for students from diverse backgrounds. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley and a PhD in Neuroscience from UC San Diego. Prior to joining SEPUP in January of 2023, David taught high school biology and biotechnology in Antioch, California, with a focus on ways to understand nature, how to approach and solve real-world problems, and how science is important to our daily lives. He still loves all things related to brains and teaches a summer course on neuroscience to local middle schoolers.
