Pay Rate: $18.67

Classification: Assistant II

Work Hours: Variable; 8:55 a.m.–5:25 p.m.; Monday through Sunday.

Overview: The Lawrence Hall of Science is UC Berkeley’s public science center. We welcome over 120,000 visitors per year, about half of whom are children. Come work on our Public Engagement team as a Visitor Services & Retail Associate!

Duties

  • Staff the museum admission desk and the museum store.
  • Welcome all visitors when they arrive.
  • Sell admissions, movie tickets, planetarium shows, museum memberships, books, toys, science kits, and grab-and-go food items.
  • Provide a high level of customer service and communicate products and experiences to visitors in person and over the phone.
  • Job duties also include keeping spaces clean and visually appealing, stocking, movie operation, data entry, routine shipping and receiving, product assembly, general administrative work and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in cashiering, customer service, or museums is a plus but is not required.
  • Flexible, positive, helpful, team-oriented.
  • Punctual, reliable, self-starter.
  • Software skills are a plus: Microsoft Office, Google, Adobe
  • Can work standing as needed
  • Can lift up to 40 lbs
  • Can stock shelves from ground to 6 ft high
  • Must be bondable by UCPD for cash handling and working with children.
