Join us Thursday, October 22nd from 5:30pm to 8:30pm for Champagne Supernova: a party that combines science and storytelling, an evening of short science talks to delight you and ignite curiosity.
The Lawrence Hall of Science and Ignite San Francisco have teamed up to bring you Champagne Supernova:
As you sample science specialties through entertaining lightning talks, you’ll be inspired by the bright scientific future we’re building at The Lawrence. We’ll eat, drink, laugh, and raise funds for The Lawrence’s important work!

Purchase a VIP Ticket or any VIP Package! You’ll be invited to our VIP reception at 5 p.m. featuring an exclusive talk with UC Berkeley’s own Professor Ken Goldberg, an artist and distinguished leader in robotics and automation.
Ken Goldberg is William S. Floyd Distinguished Professor of Engineering at UC Berkeley, President of the international Robot Learning Foundation, member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, IEEE Fellow, co-founder and Editor-in-Chief emeritus of the IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering (T-ASE), Co-Founder of Jacobi Robotics, and Co-Founder/Chief Scientist of Ambi Robotics. Ken leads research in robotics and automation: grasping, manipulation, and learning for applications in warehouses, homes, agriculture, and robot-assisted surgery. He is Distinguished Professor of IEOR, EECS, and Art Practice. Ken has published 10 U.S. patents, over 450 refereed papers, and has presented over 600 invited lectures to academic and corporate audiences.

Science Night Live: Today’s Science, Tomorrow’s Scientists is our program of short science talks at Champagne Supernova!
With a wide-ranging line-up of flash presentations — on astronomy, artificial intelligence, community health, ecology, and more — this “science variety program” showcases science specialties as diverse as those featured at The Lawrence and in our curriculum. If a standard science talk is a meal at a restaurant, this evening is your trip to the Tapas Bar!
Speakers take on Ignite Talks’ signature challenge: share your expertise and passion in a presentation that is precisely 5 minutes. This peppy program keeps talks lively, speakers sharp, and audiences captivated.
