The Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) is an innovative science education program that introduces students to the importance of scientific discovery through a molecular biology learning experience that links core science concepts to real-world applications. This five-day professional learning workshop covers the Complete Series of the ABE Foundations of Biotech curriculum. Laboratory experiences in this series include an introduction to micropipettes and gel electrophoresis, plasmid digestion, plasmid ligation, confirmation of digestion and ligation via electrophoresis, bacterial transformation, colony PCR, and protein purification.

Once trained, participating teachers are eligible to check out equipment and receive reagents and consumables needed to implement the ABE labs in their classrooms, free of charge.
