Spring Break at The Lawrence Have you ever seen an 8-foot fiery human heart? Join the Flaming Lotus Girls for a temporary installation of their sculpture Pulse during Spring Break at The Lawrence! Pulse is a large-scale, anatomically correct human heart sculpted out of metal. The sculpture beats fire to simulate blood flow through its chambers and vessels.

Flaming Lotus Girls is a female-driven, volunteer-based group of artists who make interactive, large-scale, fire and metal art installations. Their vision is to empower people to develop fabrication and leadership skills and to become experienced artists by fostering a supportive, hands-on, educational environment. Their work falls somewhere between sculpture and kinetics, and it always involves flame effects and crowd interaction—everyone is invited to become part of the art. Their sculptures are made of some combination of steel, copper, aluminum, glass, resin, and wood, and they range in size from pretty small to really, really big. The flames blaze from 2 inches to 100 feet!
