Emilie Lygren (she/they) supports the Center for Environmental Learning through designing learner-centered activities and facilitating professional learning. Emilie has collaborated with colleagues at the Lawrence Hall of Science to develop dozens of publications focused on nature journaling, learner-centered teaching approaches, and social emotional learning. She’s also a poet and believes poetry and science can both bring people into deeper relationship with place, self, and community. Emilie divides their time between the Center for Environmental Learning and local classrooms and settings around the Bay Area, where they teach poetry workshops for all ages. They hold a Bachelor’s degree in Geology-Biology from Brown University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Maharishi International University.
