The Lawrence STEM Impact Hub

Measure the Impact of Your STEM Learning Experiences

Spend less time building surveys and managing data. Spend more time learning from your participants.

The Lawrence STEM Impact Hub is available now, making high-quality evaluation more accessible for formal and informal STEM learning organizations and the evaluators who work with them. The Hub is an online platform for building and running participant surveys to evaluate STEM programs. It draws on a curated library of research-informed measures to help you build a survey, collect responses, and receive results you can use to understand a program, communicate its value, and make strategic decisions.

High-Quality Evaluation, Ready When You Are

Understanding a program’s impact should not require every organization to reinvent the evaluation process.

Our services save you time and money. Tell us about your program, choose the outcomes you want to measure, and the Hub creates a survey designed around your evaluation needs—no item-writing required.

Whether you represent a formal or informal STEM learning organization or evaluate STEM learning programs, the Hub can help you gather credible evidence about what participants experienced and how a program made a difference—bringing essential survey-building, data-collection, scoring, and reporting tools together in one streamlined service.

Build a survey around your goals
Choose from a curated library of measures related to STEM interest, identity, belonging, confidence, environmental learning, and more.

Use measures grounded in research
Start with established survey scales instead of writing and testing every question yourself.

Turn responses into useful findings
Receive organized data and clear reporting designed to help you interpret results, share your impact, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Add context to your results
As the Hub’s shared evidence base grows, participating organizations can gain a clearer understanding of how their results relate to outcomes across similar STEM learning experiences.

How It Works

We make it easy to set up and start using the Hub.

1. Fill out information about your program via our intake form

Describe your setting, participants, program content, duration, and evaluation goals.

2. Choose what you want to measure

Select the survey scales, demographic questions, and optional open-ended questions that best align with your goals.

3. Collect participant responses

Receive a survey link to share with participants. When needed, participant IDs can connect responses across pre- and post-surveys without collecting participant names.

4. Learn from your results

Access your data and request a report that turns responses into findings you can use with staff, partners, funders, and other stakeholders.

Evaluation That Works for Your Setting

The STEM Impact Hub is designed for formal and informal STEM learning organizations and the evaluators who work with them, including:

  • Museums and science centers
  • Schools and districts
  • Afterschool and out-of-school-time programs
  • Camps and summer programs
  • Internship and youth development programs
  • Environmental and outdoor learning organizations
  • Evaluators working with formal and informal STEM learning programs

Select a post-only, pre/post, or retrospective pre/post approach based on your evaluation questions, program design, and the measures you choose.

By using common measures across many learning environments, the STEM Impact Hub can help participating organizations move beyond isolated findings. Over time, this shared approach can support more meaningful comparisons, reveal patterns across programs, and strengthen the collective case for the value of STEM learning.

Why The Lawrence?

For decades, The Lawrence Hall of Science at the University of California, Berkeley has worked with formal and informal STEM learning organizations and evaluators to strengthen STEM learning.

Our work brings together deep experience in program evaluation, learning research, measurement development, and the practical realities of delivering STEM experiences.

The STEM Impact Hub extends that work by making credible evaluation tools easier to access and use across the field.
