There is a large amount of research on how people learn, and that research can influence how we teach. In this session, participants will explore research-based strategies for designing and leading science learning experiences based on how people learn. Participants will explore and discuss general strategies and take time to practice applying these strategies to their own specific contexts. In this session, participants are invited to: Strengthen their theoretical knowledge of how people learn. Learn research-backed strategies that help learners become aware of, build on, and modify their conceptual understandings. Practice applying these strategies to their own unique contexts and situations. This session is adapted from the BEETLES session, Constructing Understanding, and builds on the virtual session Constructing Understanding: Learning in Action. Participation in Constructing Understanding: Learning in Action is encouraged, though not required, to attend this session. Who is this workshop for?
