This session is a great follow-up to The Art of Science Communication (on 4/15/26). Participation in The Art of Science Communication is not required to attend this session.

Strengthen your science communication skills by learning how to craft clear, memorable, and meaningful messages that connect with specific audiences.

This session focuses on how to move from ideas to impact by centering your audience, shaping messages that resonate, and using storytelling, structure, and language to make science more accessible and engaging. You’ll explore practical tools for framing your work, avoiding jargon, using vivid examples and analogies, and building narratives that stick. You’ll leave with concrete strategies you can apply immediately to communicate more effectively across classrooms, public settings, and professional contexts, transforming complex concepts into messages that are not only understood, but remembered and meaningful.

Facilitated by Dione Rossiter, Director of Communications for the Berkeley Air & Space Center.

Dione (Dee) Rossiter is a Science Communication, Engagement, and Outreach Specialist who has previously worked with non-profits, universities, government offices, and for-profit businesses to improve their science engagement efforts. Dee received her bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley and her Ph.D. from UC Santa Cruz, both in Earth & Planetary Sciences.
