Focused on district capacity-building, BaySci is committed to improving science education through the development of systems for professional learning, distributed leadership, supportive policies, and giving explicit attention to equitable science teaching and learning. BaySci offers districts access to a wide range of resources, national expertise, customized assistance, and ongoing feedback. It follows a network strategy, bringing together educational institutions, districts, and teachers to help them pursue strategic and systemic improvement of their K-12 science education programs. Within this community, K-12 science becomes a shared and important priority among districts, leaders, and teachers who are eager to learn from and share with each other, thereby generating a level of commitment not typically seen in school districts.
