All of our facilities are accessible to visitors with disabilities. If there is anything we can do to make your visit easier, please let us know.

Attendants
Sign-language interpreters or other necessary attendants are admitted free of charge.
Wheelchairs
All exhibition spaces and all public spaces and restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Restrooms are located both on our main floor (A level) and on our lower floor (C level), which you can get to by elevator. A limited number of wheelchairs are available for loan, free of charge, at the Visitor Services Desk. You will need to leave an I.D. as a deposit when borrowing a wheelchair.
First Aid
First Aid is located at the Visitor Services Desk.
Rest Areas
Benches are located throughout The Lawrence as well as outside: as part of the Plaza Fountain and in our Forces that Shape the Bay science park.
Assistance Animals
Guide dogs and other certified assistance animals are welcome here.
Services for the Hearing-Impaired
Assistive listening devices are available during presentations in our auditorium, including our 3D movie. Please ask the staff member in the auditorium for assistance or the contact the Visitor Services Desk. We are committed to making all of our in-house workshops accessible to the hearing-impaired. Call the Registration Office at 510-642-5132 ext. 3 well in advance if you would like sign-language interpretation.
Parking and Transportation
Visitors who display a handicapped plate or placard may park in one of the ten identified spaces in the Bus Circle directly in front of the plaza. A drop-off area is also located in the same location.
You can take BART, a UC Berkeley shuttle bus, or AC transit to The Lawrence. For information about bus accessibility in Berkeley and the East Bay, phone AC Transit at 5-1-1 or visit their website at actransit.org. All UC shuttle buses are wheelchair accessible.
