Planetarium PilotsStep up to the controls and take the Planetarium dome for a spin to explore the cosmos! Learn about our celestial neighbors or travel to the furthest reaches of our universe.
Nighttime MothsWhy are moths nocturnal and why do they keep flying toward our lights? Come explore the answers to these questions, test your skills with Moth or Myth?, discover the surprising ways moths use stars to navigate at night, and get an up-close look at real specimens and their dazzling wing scales under magnification.
Star Activity: Wish Upon a StarFlex your creativity and design your own star to add to our growing Lawrence Galaxy. Write your wish and hang your star alongside others on display! What will you wish for?
Star Talk With Dr. Bryan MendezJoin us in the Forces that Shape the Bay outdoor exhibit near the Sun Stones II sculpture where UC Berkeley astronomer Dr. Bryan Mendez will give you a tour of the night sky as the Sun sets and the stars come out. Dr. Mendez will share points of interest in the summer sky, share scientific and cultural traditions of the stars and planets we can see, and explain what a meteor shower is and what we might expect to see throughout the night.
Ohlone Sky ScienceOhlone people in the East Bay have always looked up to the night sky and observed a living universe that communicates with us here on Earth. Join ‘ottoy Initiative leaders Vincent Medina and Louis Trevino, who will share a glimpse of Ohlone knowledge of ‘oššekma—the stars above us.
