Commemorate the spooky season with a celebration of misunderstood creatures! Come dressed in your Halloween costume and learn about our skittering and slithering friends from eight legs to no legs. Get up close and personal with our resident snakes in the Animal Discovery Zone and observe live spiders from UC Berkeley researchers. Go on a spider hunt in the Outdoor Nature Lab, and more spider activities! Costumed guests get a free Pheena tattoo at the Discovery Store. Observe Live Spiders Three UC Berkeley grad students will share their research on spiders and bring live spiders for up-close observations. Critter Connection (11:30am, 1:00pm, & 2:30pm) Join us for a special scaly serpent-themed edition of our Critter Connection activity in the Animal Discovery Zone. Meet some of the snakes that live at The Lawrence and learn about their habits and habitats. 3D Printing Critters (11:00am – 3:00pm) UC Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory scientists will demonstrate their next-generation 3D printer. This advanced technology uses light to make solid shapes appear inside vials of liquid as if by magic. Print spiders and snakes, meet the scientists, and experience this cutting-edge technology.
