About

People icon with heart

We Asked Our Communities:

  • How did you and your loved ones address the many challenges of the pandemic?
  • What were some of the new skills or hobbies you learned?
  • In what ways did you use your science skills to achieve your solutions?

This exhibit is a collection of your answers.

Where Inspiration Grows

Share Your Story

The Lawrence Hall of Science is continuing to collect stories and artifacts that highlight the experiences of our communities in response to the pandemic.

During the past 18 months, how did online learning or online working change things for you and your family? How were you involved in helping your community and your loved ones? Did you learn any new skills? What did you invent or tinker with to help you adjust to the challenges you faced?

We want to show off your 2-D and 3-D creations, stories, artwork, photos, videos, and more!

Submissions

We are looking for objects and stories from community members of all ages, especially our youth, answering one of these questions:

  • How have you and your loved ones worked through the challenges of the pandemic?
  • What do you hope life will look like after the pandemic?

Submissions can include: 2-D and 3-D creations, artifacts, stories, letters, journal entries, artwork, photos, videos, and more. Submissions will be displayed in protected cases and must be smaller than 20″ wide x 20″ tall x 9″ deep, like the size of a school backpack. Objects cannot be living things, food or drink, or medical equipment.

To submit your artifact please complete the submission form to select a drop-off date and time. We will be collecting artifacts on Saturdays from 10am to 12pm.

You will also be asked to complete the Lender Contract Form and for use of audio/video recordings, the Model Release Form. You are welcome to complete these ahead of time and bring them with you, or to complete them together with us during your drop-off time.

Expect to spend about 15 minutes talking with us during drop-off! Recording an optional audio description, to help make your artifact accessible to visitors with visual impairments, will take an additional five minutes. If you need to do a quick drop-off, please complete the artifact interview questions and Lender Contract Form while signing up for your slot and bring the completed forms with you.

We look forward to receiving your submissions and to exploring this exhibit together when The Lawrence reopens!
